Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a difficult thing to treat. In order to make patients give up their greatest fears, you also have to confront them with their greatest fears. At least, that’s the plan of Dr. David Tolin on ‘The OCD Project’ (Thu., 10PM ET on VH1).

[Spoiler alert.]

Patient Kristen Love has an irrational fear of germs and of contamination. So Dr. Tolin tries to deal with this fear by meeting it head on. And what’s the method that he uses? He wants to pour a glass of urine onto her bed, in order to show Kristen that germs aren’t so bad.

Kristen instantly freaks out and starts crying. Meanwhile, Dr. Tolin protests that he’s doing it all for her own good. Um, Doctor? We don’t mean to be critical, but no one really wants to have a glass of pee thrown on their bed. Could you possibly find a different method of treatment?
