Continuing Lost Overexposure Week^TM, here’s our second Lost finale Open Thread question:

Who’s gonna die in the finale?



Simple, huh? It won’t be, when the Finale introduces the new concept of sideways-death with like 10 minutes remaining in the series.

Leave your answers / explanations in the comments. Obviously, you can pick more than one person, but I won’t be able to calculate the exacta and trifecta payments until Monday.

After the jump, my predictions:

I think Ben sacrifices himself nobly in some way, and for sure the Man In Black is gonna be somehow defeated, if not expressly “killed”. I could see Claire nonchalantly dying early in the episode too, because the producers know no one would care that much, and in a 2 1/2 hour finale, some bodies are gonna have to hit the floor, like in that song from ten years ago, “Hangin’ By A Moment”.

If I’m gonna take a riskier bet, I’ll throw some money on Jack too. I could very conceivably see the episode ending with Jack giving himself up in some way — it’d be a combination of unexpectedness / everyone talking about it coolness befitting the finale of such a twisty show, plus no one would be sad if Jack died (whereas if they kill of Hurley or Miles, fans are gonna be pissed). It’d be a much better ending than just, everyone going home and the camera panning out on Jack still on the island, weaving a thread. [SHUDDER]

I think one of Jack, Sawyer, or Kate dying is a pretty good bet — I have an almost unnerving number of friends who’d be ecstatic if Kate died in the finale — but if I had to pick, if only for the sake of coolness, I’d say Jack. But yeah, Ben, Locke, Claire for sure.
