Katie Couric Defends Bush and Obama to Letterman (VIDEO)

On the ‘Late Show’ (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), David Letterman asked Katie Couric to offer some “objectivity” regarding comparisons being drawn between former president George Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina and President Obama’s response to the BP oil spill.
“Part of Katrina, it seemed to be that George Bush and what we perceived as his rich group of feckless, fat, white-boy buddies didn’t care and did nothing,” said Letterman. “Now we have this in the same part of the country. Is it safe to say that President Obama is making the same mistakes that George Bush made?”
“I think these hyperbolic generalizations are pretty unfair — for both presidents,” said the CBS news anchor. “I think there are limits to what a president can do.” Couric went on to talk about perception and “the image that’s often projected to the American people.”
