The honeymoon’s over, Conan O’Brien.

After just one week, David Letterman appears to have come roaring back by finishing in a virtual tie with the “Tonight” show last night.

The overnight ratings — which measure the top 50 metro areas in the country — for Monday night had Conan at a 3.1 ratings and Letterman at 3.0.

Neilsen won’t be able to translate that number into people until next week, when all the data is in. But it’s significant that, after a big week in the ratings, Conan has dropped down almost immediately to a typical rating for “Tonight” and Letterman has come up a bit to nearly match him. All on the heels of Letterman inking a new CBS deal.
