Cool ‘Mad Men’ Posters By English Illustrator

Filed under:

Stanley Chow, an artist living in Manchester, is obviously a big fan of pop culture. While browsing through the illustrations on his website, you’ll see superheroes, soccer players, musicians and Bill Murray alike.

However, TV fans sadly did not see any characters from good ol’ American television programming — that is until recently, when Chow unveiled his ‘Mad Men’ series.

Peggy, Don Draper and Miss Holloway are represented in both a familiar and playful manner with Chow’s unique sensibility. You won’t be able to help smiling at the Draper.

‘Talking TV’ Podcast With Writer/Producer Shawn Ryan (‘Terriers,’ ‘Ride-Along,’ ‘The Shield’)

This week, Ryan McGee and I are extremely pleased to bring you a special edition of the ‘Talking TV with Ryan & Ryan’ podcast. It’s more accurate to call it ‘Talking TV with Ryan & Ryan & Ryan’ because Shawn Ryan, executive producer of FX’s very enjoyable ‘Terriers’ and the mid-season Fox drama ‘Ride-Along,’ joined us for the hourlong chat.

Ryan, who created the landmark FX drama ‘The Shield’ and has also worked on ‘The Unit,’ ‘Lie to Me,’ ‘Angel’ and ‘Nash Bridges,’ gave us insight into the creative processes behind his past, current and upcoming shows, and talked about the general challenges of creating quality television (yes, Fox’s struggling drama ‘Lone Star’ did come up).

My favorite part of the podcast is his thought-provoking list of ‘Five Things That Bother Showrunners.’ I can pretty much guarantee that some things on that list will take you by surprise.

Ellen Welcomes 7-Year Old Lil P-Nut, the Newest Star in the Hip-Hop Universe (VIDEO)

Filed under:

Little P-Nut, 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'You had to be careful going into today’s episode of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ Make sure there were no adorable kittens or puppies in the room, and it’s probably not a bad idea to keep any babies away too. Otherwise you might suffer a catastrophic cuteness overload, as DeGeneres had 7-year old rapper Lil P-Nut on as a special guest.

P-Nut has been blowing up all over the Internet thanks to th power of YouTube and his catchy first single, “You Might Be the One.”

When asked about his name, P-Nut told DeGeneres, “My uncle said my head looked like a peanut when I was born. But I don’t really believe it.” The name stuck and he’s grown to like it as well.

CBS Developing Another Sitcom Based on a Twitter Account

Filed under:

CBSCBS got a taste of Twitter with new sitcom ‘$#*! My Dad Says,’ and liked it. A lot. So much so that the network has another comedy based on a Twitter feed in development.

According to The Live Feed, Ashton Kutcher and CBS are teaming up to bring the Twitter account @ShhDontTellSteve to television. The account could just as easily be named ‘$#*! Steve Says,’ since it’s comprised of things a twentysomething guy named Steve utters, as Tweeted by his roommate without his knowledge.

The CBS version in development is about a man who deals with an immature roommate. Tweets from the feed include such gems as: “Steve, just now, yelling from our bathroom: ‘Total Asparagus pee bro! Come smell!’” and “Steve on TV Premiere Week: ‘You are not making me watch the Dancing Washed Up Stars results show. We’re watching NCIS.’”

‘Kitchen Nightmares’ Chef Joseph Cerniglia Found Dead

Gordon Ramsay and Joseph Cerniglia in the Campania episode of 'Kitchen Nightmares' on FOXLast year, I did an article for New Jersey Monthly magazine about Garden State restaurants that had participated in Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Kitchen Nightmares.’ The participants met with varied amounts of success, but Joseph Cerniglia (right, pictured with Ramsay), owner of Campania restaurant in Fair Lawn, seemed to be one of the happiest to have undergone the change.

So I was surprised to hear that Cerniglia’s body was found floating in the Hudson River near the George Washington Bridge on Friday. No word of how he got there, but according to the Bergen Record, there were no signs of foul play and motorists reported someone jumping off the bridge just hours before Cerniglia’s body was found.

Meredith Vieira on the Changes to ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’

Filed under:

Melora Hardin and Meredith Vieira during the Celebrity 'Millionaire' weekIf you haven’t watched the syndicated version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ lately, you might not recognize the show if you’ve tuned in since the tenth season began earlier this month.

Questions and dollar amounts in the first round are now randomized. And there’s also no more Hot Seat. Both the contestant and host Meredith Vieira both stand, either behind or around a ‘Deal or No Deal’ -style podium. When Vieira first heard about all the potential changes, she felt that they shouldn’t fix what wasn’t broken. But she quickly came around when she realized how much excitement it brought.

“I realized that I had become complacent, particularly (during) the first five questions,” she told me last week. “They were almost tedious. When you get in a game you want to be in the game. It was almost as if you were waiting for the game to begin.”
