While You Were Buried In Sixty Eight Feet Of Snow At This Point
- John Mayer apologized for being “an A-hole” at a concert at Madison Square Garden last night. He added, “From now on, I will only ever be a d-bag and a bit of a prick.”
- The Canadian women’s Olympic hockey team won the gold medal last night and celebrated with beer, champagne, and cigars on the ice. That may explain why Rip Torn was with them.
- Jerry Seinfeld is in trouble with the NYPD for using official police parking credentials on his car. He tried to explain it was just a plot device to connect George and Elaine’s storylines.
- Actor Seth Green got engaged to girlfriend Clare Grant. Sorry ladies, you had your chance. Should have locked him down after Airborne.
- Simon Cowell also reportedly got engaged. However, in five years he can opt out and be replaced in the marriage by Howard Stern.
- Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer was allegedly the target of a hit from his ex-wife. Charlie Sheen isn’t looking so dysfunctional now, is he?

Craig Robinson to Host ‘Last Comic Standing’
Maybe it’s because NBC needs programming, especially during the summer. Maybe it’s because the network needed a companion to ‘America’s Got Talent.’ But it does seem like ‘Last Comic Standing’ has become the ‘According to Jim’ of reality shows, doesn’t it? The show just doesn’t die, no matter how much NBC and its producers have tried to kill it.
The folks who brought us the genius idea of Jay Leno at 10PM has decided to resurrect ‘Last Comic,’ which they canned in 2008, for a summer run, according to Joe Adalian at The Wrap. Craig Robinson of ‘The Office’ and the forthcoming comedy flick ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ has been tabbed to host.
At least the new host gives me hope for this new version. Robinson has a great comic presence, whether he’s intimidating Michael Scott as warehouse foreman Darryl Philbin, or just doing his stand-up at a local club. He’ll be funnier than Bill Bellamy and more confident than Anthony Clark, two of the show’s previous hosts (Jay Mohr was the original host… and quite good).

Have a Question for Tom Papa of ‘The Marriage Ref?’ Ask It Here!
We have a fun treat coming up for our next episode of The TV Squad Podcast: Tom Papa, host of NBC’s new series ‘The Marriage Ref,’ will be joining us for some talk about his show and some of the interesting arguments he’s had to mediate.
But Papa’s an interesting guy: He’s been on the stand-up circuit forever, and has friends in high places, including ‘Marriage Ref’ executive producer Jerry Seinfeld. So if you want to ask him questions about being buds with Jerry, some of the people who have gone on ‘Ref’ (including Alec Baldwin), or why he’s credited as a “writer” on an episode of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8,’ ask them here.
Leave your questions in the comments and we’ll relay them to Papa during the podcast. We’ll even give you credit for any question we use. So, ask away below. Any question we get in before we record the podcast on Tuesday at around 5 PM ET will be eligible.

Roger Ebert to Appear on ‘Oprah’ March 2
It’s interesting how quickly the wonderful Esquire profile of Roger Ebert, written by Chris Jones, rocketed around the interwebs last week. It speaks to the power of two things: a) Ebert’s endearing popularity, almost four years after he stopped being an on-camera movie critic, and b) that a well-written magazine profile can give a reader more insight into a person than sometimes talking to the person himself can even do.
But the article, and the stark pictures of Ebert that accompanied it, has led Ebert in some interesting directions. For instance, he’ll be going on Oprah Winfrey’s show on March 2 to do his first interview since various cancer surgeries robbed him of his voice, most of his jaw, and his ability to eat and drink. Ebert will speak through the use of a computer.
The two Chicago titans have a long history together; five years ago, Ebert revealed that the two of them even went out on a couple of dates in the 1980s, where Ebert gave Oprah the idea to syndicate her talk show rather than take it to the network level.

If ESPN Gets the Olympics, It Would Ditch Tape Delay
As we talked about in this week’s edition of the TV Squad Podcast, NBC is getting a lot of bad press (again) for their programming decisions for the Olympics. Too much focus on personal drama, too many odd interviews interrupting events, and tape delays. That last one is what irks people the most, and one network says that if they had the Olympics they wouldn’t have a tape delay, they’d show everything live.
That network is ESPN. They’re going to bid on the 2014 winter games and the 2016 summer games, and if they win, they’re going to scrap the whole tape delay thing.

Dennis Farina to Star in HBO Drama Pilot from Mann and Milch
Dennis Farina is one of those actors that’s good in everything he does. Even if something he does isn’t that great, he will always be good in it. He’s just been cast in the new HBO show ‘Luck’ that David Milch is producing, and the more I hear about the show the more I like it.
For one, it’s a horse racing drama. You don’t get many shows on television set around that world, and while I don’t bet on horses or go to races it’s always great to see a new world depicted on television. Second, the show is being co-produced by ‘Miami Vice’ veteran Michael Mann. Farina has been working with Mann since 1981′s ‘Thief’ (Farina is an ex-cop and became an actor on that movie), including the lead in the great 80s series ‘Crime Story.’
Farina was also great in ‘Buddy Faro.’ Remember that show? Another cool series gone way too soon.

J.J. Abrams Invented the iPad
You think ‘Mad TV’ was the first to use the name iPad? Actually, the name was used in a 1999 episode of ‘Felicity.’ Her friend is trying to decide which computer to buy and rattles off a list of products that are available at the store…hmmmmm.
Obviously she mixes up “Thinkpads” and “iBooks.” Either that or J.J. Abrams has powers we mortals can’t understand.
