American Idol: Dallass Does Debbie Right Back!

Hello again everybody! My name is J-Mo, and I’ve just breezed in for a few minutes to chat with you all and make a confession. Like many Americans, I made sure to sit down and pay attention to the President’s State Of The Union Address last night. In fact, I took copious notes on it. KIDDING, I slept through the whole thing! So I’m sure you can imagine my extreme annoyance when I awakened to discover we were going to have to listen to another fifteen minutes of boring-ass blathering in order to allow the governor of Virginia a chance to give the “Republican response”. Like this was debate class back in high school. Which I also slept through. Anyhow, it’s not that I don’t care about what’s going on in our country today, or what our leaders are going to lie to us about next plan to do about it, it’s just that the whole situation scares the bejeebleyfuck out of me and I prefer to escape into the readily available Fantasyworld™ on Fox…

…in which someone actually wants to see Simon Cowell in a wet T-shirt…

Yes, this Season 9 episode of American Idol is back in Dallas, Texas for the third time to audition thousands of mentally ill wackadoodies hopeful singers that just want their chance to… show everyone how talented of a singer they are? Not hardly! These wannabe famewhores are either looking for an opportunity to get on TV by being stupidly laughable, or they’re ready to bust out with a Tale Of Woe™ that would make Old Testament Job look at them and say, “Daaaamn dude, you win!” Are you ready to go back to Titanic, ‘Gasmii? ‘Cuz I suspect this show has recently struck an iceberg called “The X-Factor” and is sinking fast, so let’s take a running jump over that looming shark, shall we?

MTV orders more Jersey Shore

Have you been itching with excitement and unable to sit still because of the nervous anticipation building in your body over what has happened to the cast of the MTV reality series Jersey Shore? If so, please seek professional help immediately.

And you can’t stop worrying. MTV has picked up a full twelve episode order for the reality shore that will bring the entire cast back to the small screen sometime this summer.

That means the show will have to start shooting very soon to get the episodes ready to air in the summer. If you work or live in Seaside Heights, you might want to warn your fellow citizens and start stocking up on plastic sheeting and duct tape.

Review: Saturday Night Live – Jon Hamm/Michael Bublé

Hamm and Buble
(S35E13) The first time Jon Hamm hosted Saturday Night LIve, back in 2008, it was before I had seen his work on Mad Men and 30 Rock (the latter was due to the fact his guest appearances didn’t exist at the time). I was super-excited that the seemingly perpetually serious Hamm actually turned out to be hilarious, and his performance led to one of the best episodes of the entire season. Taking all this into consideration, I was walking on dangerous ground as I prepared to watch Hamm’s return to the SNL stage.

Were my expectations too high to be met? Did Hamm’s pre-SNL beard somehow take funny away from him (I’ve heard beards can sometimes do that)? As it turned out, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Hamm did yet another stellar job as host, bringing a level of charm and commitment that made just about every sketch work.

Watch for the Griswolds during the Super Bowl

chevy_chase_beverly_dangelo_homeawayApparently we’re in the midst of a Chevy Chase revival. Not only is the former Saturday Night Live star, the first to become a breakout movie star, currently making good on the NBC sitcom Community, he’s getting commercial work, too.

Not just the MyTouch one that’s been around for a while — with other SNL‘ers Darrell Hammond, Dana Carvey and Molly Shannon — but now he’s going to star in a Super Bowl ad.

Actually co-star. In a spot for HomeAway.com, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will be the Griswolds again, reprising their National Lampoon Vacation characters.

Pre-Lost Locke, Terry O’Quinn as The Stepfather

the_stepfather_terry_oquinn_shout_factoryWhen Lost returns this Tuesday for the beginning of the end of the series, one of the biggest questions that has to be answered concerns John Locke. Is he dead or not? Has he been dead all along and someone/something else was taking his place? What is the real story of John and why was he chosen for the role he has on the island and off?

Well, part of the fascination with Locke is the way Terry O’Quinn has played the character. O’Quinn is a dynamic and compelling actor. And if you want to get a great look at just how good Terry is, take a look at the recently released reissue of a small, independent film he made in 1987 called The Stepfather. The DVD presents a much younger Terry O’Quinn — he was 35 at the time — as Jerry Blake. And Bill Hodges. And Henry Morrison.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Bruce Jenner’s PUNCH OUT

This week on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we learn all about what it would be like to give to a charity IF we were fame-whores. Nothing says “helping the sick” like publicly kicking the shit out of strangers. Huzzah!

Review: Ghost Whisperer – Living Nightmare

Ghost Whisperer
(S05E13) “Am I awake? Is this place real? Are you real?” – Robert to Jim

Talk about being disoriented right from the start! Minutes in the episode, viewers and characters are thrown in a chaotic storyline thanks to a injured patient who isn’t making any sense. Of course, things got more chaotic seconds before the opening credits, when Bruno Campos suddenly appeared as the main ghost of the week and threw more nonsense at Melinda and co.

I don’t know about you, but I felt dizzy watching this week’s episode! I even had to pause a few times and try to reassess the situation since clues where coming from left and right, and things weren’t making much sense. Plus, the ending was thrown at us so fast that I had to rewind to ensure I understood the reasons behind the weird happenings!

Captain Jack coming to Wisteria Lane

john_barrowman_torchwood_headshotRemember way back in July 2009? Of course you don’t, but thank goodness for search engines. You see, on July 31st of last year, Bob wrote about a Torchwood character going to Wisteria Lane. Now, it’s happening. John Barrowman will be appearing on Desperate Housewives. Captain Jack Harkness will be playing a villain, stirring up trouble for the ladies of the neighborhood.

Barrowman is expected to leave England in March to come to Los Angeles to begin filming. He’ll appear on screen in April, and he’s there for a mini-arc, at least five episodes. And he will be playing a malevolent man, i.e. a villain.

Ausiello reports that he’s going to be involved with Angie’s story. How will he impact on the Bolens, who are already brimming with angst and drama? Doesn’t sound like it will be a positive impact.
