Bob Barker almost a no-show at Game Show Awards because of feud with Betty White
Filed under: Game Show, Awards, Reality-Free
It’s hard to imagine that anyone would consider TV’s sweet-natured grandma Betty White as their “sworn enemy.” Except, of course for maybe Mom from Futurama and the bizarro version of Bea Arthur.
But apparently that’s the label that Price is Right host Bob Barker has bestowed upon the Golden Girl. It turns out the two aren’t pals or confidants. Buzzer Blog reported that Barker threatened not to show up to GSN’s 2009 Game Show Awards where he accepted a lifetime achievement award along with Mark Goodson and Monty Hall if White was there.
It gets weirder. The whole thing was caused by an elephant. This is starting to sound less like Hollywood gossip and more like a job for Mythbusters.

New shots from Sons of Anarchy’s second season
Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Casting, Reality-Free, Galleries
With Rescue Me plowing through it’s massive 22 episode fifth season, it’s a little weird to think that we’ll be tuning into Denis Leary’s FDNY hijnks until September 8th – especially since we’re used to having the show be over after about three months.
I’m not really sure what my point is mentioning that, because all I’m doing is piling good news on top of more good news – once Rescue Me ends, Sons of Anarchy is back.
The FX motorcycle drama began filming it’s second season recently, with two notable cast additions – Henry Rollins and Adam Arkin. At the time of Rollins casting, nothing was known about his character other than his role as a “new antagonist.” Now, according to Fancast, it turns out that both Rollins and Arkin will be playing neo-nazis. If you recall Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Clay’s tumultuous relationship with Darby (Mitch Pileggi) and the Nords, then you know they ain’t gonna get along with these two.
If you feel like being spoiled beyond that, pictures and more character info after the jump…

Peep Show’s on Hulu… No, not that kind of peep show
Filed under: Other Comedy Shows, OpEd, Web, Celebrities, Reality-Free

I recently — and giddily — posted about Hulu.com’s inclusion of Channel 4′s Green Wing, one of my favorite programs. Hulu is definitely on my good side right now, as they also have the first season of Peep Show online now. Those of you that don’t have this in your list of British comedies to conquer, you should. Now. I mean, once you get over David Mitchell’s extra-weird, giant, almost-black eyes, it’s pretty enjoyable.

Doctor Who: the movie?
Filed under: TV on the Bigscreen, OpEd, Doctor Who, Reality-Free, British TV
The rumors flow like wine. Once again, “news” has surfaced that a Doctor Who movie is in the works. Supposedly this one has a bit more merit because the BBC has confirmed that one is in development, yet they don’t link to a press release of any kind. Forgive me if I have some doubts.
If true, which Doctor is it? Will it be David Tennant or Matt Smith? And which showrunner is it? Russell T. Davies or Steven Moffat? Or is the answer none of the above?
There has been a lot of recent developments in the Doctor Who world. A movie is the next logical step.
If I had my druthers, the movie would be about the Time War (the Daleks being the obvious choice for the alien enemy of the movie). It would star Paul McGann and fill the gap between the 1996 television movie and the 2005 relaunch. The odds are so astronomically against as to be incalculable, but I can dream.

Why use the ShamWow when we have paper towels?
Filed under: Video, Commercials, Web, Reality-Free
I know, I know, two commercial-inspired posts in one day, but this one’s pretty funny. It’s a parody of the ShamWow ad. It shows us all of the things that paper towels can do, regardless of what Vince tries to tell us in those commercials. Personally, I think he should drive home the “paper towels are better” point more.

Prince will probably never be a guest on Letterman’s show
Filed under: Late Night, Celebrities, Talk Show, Reality-Free

I would have posted this earlier today, but I couldn’t read Prince’s handwriting on the big sheet of paper he gave to Jay Leno last night. I thought it was just a goodbye wish, but now I see from TMZ that it was actually a dig at David Letterman.
It says “Jay is the best. Even Paul Shaffer knows it.” Billy Crystal looks amused.

Jeff Zucker talks about NBC, web content, and why Seinfeld wouldn’t survive today
Filed under: Industry, Programming, Video, Reality-Free
When I first saw this I thought to myself, Jeff, a show like Seinfeld actually would survive if you stuck with it and didn’t cancel it, just like NBC did back then. You don’t have to cancel shows even today just because they don’t get great ratings after two episodes.
This is a clip of NBC boss Jeff Zucker being interviewed at the All Things D conference. He talks about Hulu, iTunes, NBC’s woes, and how the industry has changed over the years. (This is highlights from the interview – full report here.)

Court tells Al Roker: "OMG, stop taking pics for Twitter!"
Filed under: Daytime, Web, Celebrities, Reality-Free
Note to self: if you’re picked for jury duty, don’t bring a cell phone camera and take pictures.
Yesterday, Today co-host Al Roker was picked for jury duty, and like a lot of people he decided to tweet his adventures in real time for his followers, including taking some pics for his Twitter page. The court never told him he could (he took pics outside the court not the courtroom itself), and when they found out they politely asked him to stop.
Here’s Roker’s Twitter feed, here’s TMZ’s account, and here’s the story at TV Newser.

New York Goes To Work: I See Dead People…..(But I’d Rather See a Dead Show)
In honor of this week’s job on New York Goes to Work, I busted out my old Ouija board, and asked it a few questions. I was looking for some answers. Question #1: Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway? It ignored me. Hmmm. Question #2: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? No answer. ***Shakes it***. Is this thing broken? NOOOOOOO. Oh. Okay. Question #3: When is this show gonna get cancelled?
Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Save yourselves!!!!!!
